November 4, 1804

On November 4, 1804, Clark recorded that a French man, Charbonneau, visited the explorers.  He wished to be hired as an interpreter, he could speak French.  It was important for The Corps of Discovery to hire Charbonneau not only because he could speak French, but because his wife, Sacagawea could communicate with many of the Indian tribes.
