In this lesson, we learned about Chief Black Hawk’s childhood and life. We discussed the importance of the Treaty of 1804 and how it affected Black Hawk and his tribe. Also, we learned about the War of 1812 and how those outcomes affected his tribe as well. We looked at pictures of Black Hawk and his family. After the lesson, we colored a picture of Black Hawk and listed three things we learned about him. We also filled out a worksheet about Chief Black Hawk and his life, as well as about the Sauk and Fox tribes to which he belonged.
