1904- Theodore Geisel was born in Springfield, Massachusetts

1926- Geisel begins to uses name Dr. Seuss

1927- Dr. Seuss marries Helen Palmer

1937- Dr. Seuss publishes his first childrens book, And to Think I Saw It on Mulberry Street.




1951- Dr. Seuss wins an Animated Cartoon Academy Award

1957- Dr. Seuss publishes The Cat in the Hat and How the Grinch Stole Christmas

1960- Dr. Seuss publishes One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and Green Eggs an Ham



1981- Governors of several states declare Dr. Seuss 77th birthday Dr. Seuss Day

1984- Dr. Seuss wins the Pulitzer Prize

1990-  Oh the Places You'll Go is published, which is his last children's book.

1991- Dr. Seuss dies on September 24 at the age of eight-seven
