Activity 2:
Conserving Our Nation's Land
We discovered the definitions that Theodore Roosvelt helped to preserve
including: National Forests, National Parks National Monuments, and
Bird Reservations. We discussed examples of each also.
After learning about these places, we made a three layer map using
transparencies that marked many of the National Forests, Monuments, and
Parks he established. This helped to show all of the work
Roosevelt did to conserve are nation's land.
Activity 3:
Search the Forests
Using the knowledge we gained from the previous activity about National
Forests, Parks, and Monuments, we navigated our way through the
internet on scavenger hunts of The Grand Canyon, Crater Lake, and
Sequoia. We found information about where these places were
located, how much land they cover, the largest trees, and some of the
magnificent features of these natural wonders.
Take a look at these beautiful places!
