Life
Frank Lloyd Wright was born June 8,
1867 in Richland Center, Wisconsin. He attended the Engineering School
at the University of Wisconsin in 1882. After graduating he moved to
Chicago in 1887. Frank's first architectural work was in the Hillside
Home School in 1888 near Spring Green, Wisconsin. In 1890, he began
working for Adler and Sullivan and in 1893 he opened his own firm in
Chicago. In 1912, Wright opened his own office in Chicago. The Frank
Lloyd Wright Foundation was founded in 1940 and is still operating
today. In 1956, Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago declared October 17
Frank Lloyd Wright Day, this year was the 51st year. Frank Lloyd Wright
died in Phoenix, Arizona on April 29, 1959.
