Mini Field Trip:
For Our field trip we visited Dr. Daniels, who grew up as a Quaker in Pennsylvania. Dr. Daniels told us about how when he was a young boy, they would have Quaker meetings.  At the meetings, they would sit around and basically think about things.  If someone had something they wanted to share they could.  Dr. Daniels went to school just like us and says that growing up as a quaker wasn't much different from how we grow up today.  The major difference was that they had these meetings.  Quakers believed that all people were equal so they didn't have any designated leaders of the church, they didn't have pasters, preachers, minister or priests.  Everyone taught everyone else because they were all equal.

After we got to ask Dr. Daniels some questions, we watched a video about a Inderjit Khurana, a freedomfighter for education in India.  Inderjit was confinced that the children she saw everyday would never be able to escape poverty and homelessness with out education.  So, she created a platform schools. You can learn more about Inderjit by following the link to a website.

We also read a book about a Quaker boy, Obadiah.  Obadiah and his family live in Nantucket in the early 1800's.  In the book, Obadiah learns an important lesson on the true nature of courage.
