Levi was 15 years old, he helped a kidnapped black man escape slavery. |

and his cousin, Vestal Coffin, ran a Sunday school for black people
where slaves were taught to read the Bible. Unfortunately, the slaves' owners forced the school to close. |

and Catharine Coffin moved from North Carolina to Fountain City,
Indiana. |

After
living in Fountain City, Indiana for 20 years, Levi and Catharine
decided to move to Cincinnati, Ohio to open a free-labor warehouse. |

Levi
went to England and helped start the Freedmen's Aid Society. This
society helped free black people gain an education, money, clothing, and housing. |

Levi
was alive to see slavery abolished in the United States. |
