Mrs. Hummel is pointing out specific quilt patterns.  Chaz's favorite was the "crossroad" pattern.	Mrs. Melvin is helping Mrs. Hummel share one of the quilts from her collection.  Malcolm's favorite pattern was the "wagon wheel".	Mrs. Hummel with Malcolm and Chaz.  The boys visited Mrs. Hummel for their mini field trip to learn more about quilts, especially freedom quilts.	Malcolm and Chaz shared their knowledge of freedom quilts with the group.  Chaz remembered that the "drunkard's path," quilt pattern, communicated to the escaped slaves to split up so the slave hunters could not track them.
