The Life of Jackie Robinson
 
 

 
 

    Jackie Robinson was born on January 31, 1919.  When Jackie was a little boy he moved to California.  In high school, Jackie was really good at sports.  After high school, Jackie went to college at UCLA.  In college, Jackie played football, basketball, track, and baseball.  Jackie served in the US Army in 1939-1941.

    After serving in the US Army, he decided to play for the Kansas City Monarchs all black baseball team.  In 1946, Jackie met Branch Rickey, the leader of the Dodgers, and signed a baseball contract to play for the Dodgers.  Then he got married to Rachel Isum and had three kids Sharon, Jackie Jr., and David.
