Carl Sandburg's Lifetime

                                  1878 - Birth

                                  1891 - Dropped out of 8th grade

                                  1898 - Went to college

                                 1904 - Published first book

All through his life, Carl Sandburg wrote books and poems and songs
for adults
and for children.

                                 1908 - Married Lillian Steichen

                        1926 - Wrote Abraham Lincoln; The Prairie Years

Sandburg won the Pulitzer prize for his
three volume biography of Lincoln.

Before he died, Carl Sandburg did a reading to dedicate the
newly built Assembly Hall at the University of Illinois
