HI!  My  name is Janie Vieira and I am a senior elementary education major at Eastern Illinois University.  I recently worked with three third grade students from Carl Sandburg grade school to learn about the man who gave their school its name - Carl Sandburg!  We enjoyed learning about why Sandburg is a global hero and we even wrote our own Rootabaga.  Sandburg named a collection of his stories Rootabagas.  I hope you enjoy our website!!!
 

Hi!  My name is Matthew.  I liked learning about Carl Sandburg because he admired Abe Lincoln.  I also like how Sandburg stayed up late because I like to stay up late too.  I go to Carl Sandburg school and I'm in third grade.  When I'm not at school, I like to play baseball with my dad.

Hello!  My name is Austin.  I also liked Carl Sandburg because he stayed up late to write poetry.  I thought it was cool that he delivered newspapers.  I really think it's neat that my school was named after him.  When I'm not at school, I like to watch the Indianapolis Colts play football.  I also like to play football with my friend, Alex.
