Grace Murray Hopper was born in New York City, December 9, 1906.  Grace was the oldest child  in her family.   Grace wanted to learn a lot about machines so she took apart all of the alarm clock in her house just to see how they worked. While Grace was growing up she went to two private schools in New York.  When Grace was a teenager she went to Vassar College.  She earned her Master's degree at Yale University and her Ph. D. from Yale.
