1. Understand the basic architecture of Oracle database server.
2. Understand the basic ways to start and shutdown a database instance.
3. To be exposed to Oracle's database control tool: Enterprise Manager (EM).
4. Understand the concept of multithreaded server (MTS).
5. Be able to configure the Oracle server.
6. Understand the concept of Oracle Net Manager and Listener.
