Life and History of Eleanor Roosevelt

1884-Born in New York City
1892-Eleanor's mother dies
1894-Eleanor's father dies, went to live with her grandmother
1899-Enrolls at Allenswood School in England
1905-Returns to the U.S. and marries Franklin Roosevelt
1906-1916-Gives birth to their six children (one of which dies)
1912-Attends her first Democratic Party convention
1918-Works with the Red Cross and the Navy Department to help American servicemen in              World War  I
1920-Joins the League of Women Voters
1921-Nurses Franklin after he is stricken with polio
1926-Purchases Todhunter School in New York and teaches history and government
1933-Becomes the first president's wife to hold press conferences
1935-Begins writing her column "My Day"
1943-Travels to South Pacific to boost troops morale
1946-Begins working with the United Nations and begins drafting the Declaration of                       Human Rights
1948-Teams with her daughter Anna and ABC on a daytime radio program
1950-Teams with her son Elliott and NBC on a television and radio program featuring                      famous guests
1952-Resigns from the U.N. delegation after the election of Eisenhower.
1960-Writes "You Learn by Living" reflecting on the experiences of her life
1962-Dies from tuberculosis
