Mini-Field Trip
On October 10, 2001, Mr. Roy Lantham came and spoke to the Gandhi and the
Caesar Chavez teams about how both these individuals were great assets
to the countries they worked for. Mr. Lantham talked to the teams
about how brave both Gandhi and Chavez were. He made great comparisons
and gave good examples for the students to see how Gandhi and Chavez may
have worked if they were alive today.
The most memorable example he gave was when he discussed how Gandhi and
Chavez would have reacted to finding out that Wal-Mart was using child
labor to make products. He explained to both teams that these two
heroes would not have been violent. They would have protested by
having sit-ins at the door and not allowing people to go in or out of the
store. I truly believe that Mr. Lantham talking to both teams allowed
them to see that even today a person can stand up for what they believe
in. I would like to say THANK YOU to
Mr. Lantham for the great words he spoke about both Global Hereos!
