Accomplishments

Eleanor Roosevelt revolutionized the position of the first lady.  She was a humanitarian and a civic leader.  At home and abroad Eleanor worked very hard for the welfare of children, African Americans, the poor, and women everywhere.  She contributed much to the development of the United Nations and played a vital role in the creation of the Declaration of Human Rights.  While striving to help the people of the world Eleanor also took time out to take care of her husband Franklin, who was suffering from polio.
