The EIU Chapter...

EIU LogoThe Student Chapter of SHRM at Eastern Illinois University was founded in 1990 by student Amy Quigley. Amy was interested in pursuing a career in the field of Human Resources. She wanted to establish an organization where students with similar goals could share their ideas and talents with the purpose of better equipping each member for the business world. Amy Quigley became the EIU Chapter's first President. Helping her to guide the chapter were the chapter's first advisors, Dr. Robert Wayland and Professor Dave Arseneau.

Currently, SHRM is an organization where students who are interested in Human Resources can come and meet to share a common interest. SHRM provides various types of activities from regular meetings, to group speakers, and even conferences. Also SHRM likes to provide an outside activity and take a field trip to a company where we can be out in the workforce and see how various companies handle their day to day operations.
