The Cesar Chavez Team

Hello, my name is Nicole Koonce.  It has been such a privilege participating in
Project WOW with the third graders from Carl Sandburg.  Our team learned
extraordinary things about our hero American Cesar Chavez.  We learned how one can
stand up for what is right and make a enormous difference in our world by
peaceful and nonviolent means.  As a team we learned what a wonderful person
Cesar Chavez was and why he is an American hero.

I want to give special thanks to Mrs. Barford for making Project WOW
possible and opening such a wonderful learning environment.  Special thanks are
also deserved for Mrs. Conwell and Mrs. Miller for allowing Eastern students the
opportunity to work in their classrooms with the third grade students.  I want to thank
my team for being eager tolearn and cooperating through all projects.  My thanks go
out to Roy Lanham for speaking with our team about Cesar Chavez and being an
excellent role model for a modern peacemaker.  Thanks to all the websites and
wonderful books that we used in our discovery of Cesar Chavez, we could
not have learned so much without them.
