It is very important to learn about Lewis and Clark, because they were explorers who saw the Piasa Bird, visited Cahokia Mounds, crossed the Bitterroot Mountains, met the Nez Perce Indians, and traveled on the Missouri River. They were very strong, and smart men who discovered many new things for our country.
Hi, my name is Bodie. My favorite part of learning about Lewis and Clark was hearing the story of the Piasa Bird. I learned that the Piasa Bird was a human eating bird. I also enjoyed coloring many pictures of the Piasa Bird as well as pictures of Lewis and Clark on the Bitterroot Mountains, a buffalo, and a picture of Lewis and Clark's team pulling a boat up the stream. When we were looking for pictures on the computer for our website. I found many pictures of the Piasa Bird. I found a scary one too.
Hi, my name is Ashley. I liked learning about the buffalo, and how they helped the Indians. I found out that the buffalo were bigger than I thought they were. I learned that they used their hide for blankets , teepees, and stories. We made our own Indian stories on hides. We used Indian symbols to tell the story. I remember reading the story of the Buffalo Woman. I learned a lot about the Nez Perce Indians. They are called Nez Perce because they have pierced noses.
Hi, my name is Ryan. My favorite part was learning about the buffalo. I learned that you can tell a buffalo is male if it has a beard. You can tell that it is female if it doesn't have a beard. We read a story called "Buffalo Woman." We wrote a paragraph about the book. I learned alot about the Nez Perce. They used buffalo for food, and their hides to tell stories. We even wrote on a hide to tell a story. My story was about peace and war. We also learned about the medicine man with the Buffalo Woman.
Hi, my name is Makenzie. I loved learning about the Piasa Bird. I learned that a very brave chief killed the man eating Piasa Bird. We made buffalo hides by writing a story with symbols, and learned that buffalo can run really fast. I learned that Lewis and Clark met the Nez Perce Indians when they reached the end of the Bitterroot Mountains.
Hi, my name is Joey. My favorite part was learning about the Piasa Bird. It was an enormous bird that had a face like a deer, a tail like the devil, claws for fingers, and scales like a snake. I learned that the Nez Perce Indians are well known for their pierced noses, and their Appaloosa Horses. We learned that the Cahokia Mounds are in the state of Illinois, and they are a bunch of huge mounds made out of dirt and grass. The tallest mound is called Monks Mound.
