Our Mini Field Trip
On our mini field trip we went to the Eastern Illinois University Greenhouse where Dr. Steve Malehorn gave us a tour.

On our field trip we learned about plants.
Some plants we learned about were really cool.  We are going to tell about some of them.

The Venus Fly Trap
This plant can trap flies when they land on it's leaves.  TIny hairs sense that the fly is there, and the plant snaps shut to capture them.

The Sensitive Plant
This plant is sensitive to pressure put upon it's leaves.  When it feels the weight of an insect, it's leaves collapse and fold against it's stem.

The Pitcher Plant
This plant captures water in it's leaves.  When an insect comes and lands in it's leaves, it gets stuck in them and drowns.
